Got to love when an evil man in one of my stories gives a humanitarian speech right before burning all these people. Excerpt from Choir: A great upheaval of shouting began then. Some people try to run, but the ropes restrained them and caused others to fall to the flagstone path with them. One shout could be heard above the rest, I do not worship demons! I do not worship them who have come to our shores! Spare me! Gods spare me! You have made a nest of sins long before this! Baliss said. Your whole empire is littered in corruption and vanities. You have made men low, made men slaves when all men should be born free without bondage. The living flesh of humanity does not belong as some nobles idle object, bound to do everything their master pleases. Men are made free by the wills of the gods whose wisdom combined in heaven knows no competitor. The demon worship is the last and the worse of your sins, but it is not the only sin we punish you for today. Please we are just peasants! We have no control of this! Some woman shouted in the back. A wave of hunger seem to pass over Balisss face. A cog in a machine corrupt goes to support the evil machine. A rot in the wheel of a carriage, brings all the splinters and grains of wood within that wheel to trash. Trash to be discarded, to be burned, tossed and forgot. Now we burn you.
