Gov Mukhtar Ramalan Yero gives soft loans to civil servants Kaduna State Government has given out soft loans (micro credit) to its civil servants to assist in alleviating their suffering. State Governor, Ramalan Yero, said when the scheme started it was with the sum of N100 million before he increased it to N400 million in 2008 when he was the Commissioner of Finance. Yero pledged utmost commitment to the welfare of civil servants in the state. He appealed to them to take the issue of pre-retirement seriously as many retire but not tired. The Governor charged the workers to make plans for after retirement so that most of them who are still agile will not be idle. While also promising to increase the loan consequently when given the mandate and re-eleted in 2015. About 516 workers benefitted from the loan scheme which ranges from N250,000 to N500,000 and it cuts across both senior and junior workers in the state. Chairman of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the state, Shehu Mohammed, thanked the Governor for his care for the workers while still calling on him to increase the number of the beneficiaries and the amount being giving out. Shehu pleaded with Yero to please improve on this during his next tenure. The elated workers thanked the Governor for having their interest at heart by giving them such a loan in January when most of them have exhausted their finances while promising to put the loan to good use.
