Governor Perry talks musical talents, politics on Jimmy Kimmel AUSTIN, Texas — Jimmy Kimmel Live has set up shop in Austin for South by Southwest, and he has a star-studdded line-up ready to go. One of his guests was one of Austin’s own, Governor Rick Perry. During the close to 8 minute interview the pair talked about the Governor’s musical talents, some of his policies and his political aspirations for president. Kimmel introduced Perry as the longest serving governor in the state, to some boo’s from the crowd. When asked why he wasn’t running again Perry said 14 years was enough when you get a less than warm reception. Kimmel asked what Perry has done to make people dislike him so intently, and he responded with what Kimmel called a strange analogy, quote Austin is a blueberry in the tomato soup — a reference to Austin’s democratic nature in a mostly republican state. On the topic of politics, Kimmel acknowledged his show probably wasn’t the place to make a big announcement but went there anyway asking about Perry’s plans for 2016.
