Governor Rick Snyder wasted no time turning words into actions after his State of the State address. He stopped by Franchino Mold and Engineering in Lansing last Wednesday morning, pushing for increases in skilled jobs -- a move he says will boost the economy and drop unemployment numbers. Our goal needs to be to be number one in career education in the skilled trades, he said, reiterating a statement made during the State of the State. We made a mistake at some point in our past where we basically instead just told people they should get a university degree. That was not a smart thing to do and we lost track of education in the skilled trades. Big mistake. And were paying a price for that.
