Justin Rose does not feel there are any problems with the relationship between European team-mates Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell.Much of the talk In the build-up to the 40th Ryder Cup at Gleneagles this weekend has been surrounding the Northern Irish pair, following legal disputes involving them and their former management company. While McDowell suggested he would prefer not to play fourballs with McIlroy, the 35-year-old said he would be open to a foursomes partnership, having also suggested his compatriot had outgrown him. Americas Phil Mickelson then stoked the fire somewhat by joking that his US team-mates dont litigate against each other. However, Rose has no concerns over the relationship between McIlroy and McDowell. Of course its a bit of banter [from Mickelson]and getting things going. We dont have a problem with that at all, said the Englishman. Theres no real angst between the players from that point of view at all, and in our team room, its a non-issue. Ive obviously been observing Rory and G-Mac, too, and they have been getting on great and playing golf and hanging out and having dinners together. Of course, yeah, it was mentioned last night. Phil came up to Rory last night and was like, hey, this and that. Its no real big deal. Obviously if someone says something - Ill call it banter and nothing more serious than that. Rose had no problem with Mickelsons comments, suggesting it was designed to add some spark to the build-up as the United States seek to win the Ryder Cup in Europe for the first time since 1993. Asked on why he thought Mickelson opted to make the comments, Rose responded: Yeah, [to] mix it up, maybe, looking for that spark themselves, dont forget about us, were here, and thats something the European Team certainly have not forgotten. I can imagine, just to spice things up and have a bit of fun with it. Amongst friends [Mickelson] loves the banter and he loves to throw a few bobs out there, which is great. Everyone responds to that, and thats why hes fun to play practice rounds with.
