Graduate School Update by Keith Monique left at the break of dawn to accompany my sister to bring my Dad to his Mohs surgery for skin cancer. I truly have a wonderful wife. Carl left equally early for school, mumbling something about where are my keys and getting breakfast at a local diner. I finally recovered from a two day three shift stint at the House this weekend, sat down at the computer to finish my short appraisal of a piece of quantitative research for my research class which was due by 4 pm today. It took me some three hours but I finished it and e-mailed it to my professor. So, I think it is time for a nap and then a hour reviewing a power point dedicated to anticoagulant therapy before general pharmacology class. Unfortunately I am too aware of the difficulties of prescribing, managing and administering coumadin to my clients, as well as administering Vitamin K, and monitoring INRs. As well as the usual questions like, didnt anyone tell you you shouldnt be eating handfuls of motrin while taking this stuff ? or I guess thats why you have an INR of 7 and a headache and Im about to call an ambulance- and by the way I think my head hurts more than yours dose right now, if thats possible. Yeah, anticoagulant therapy at the house- in all its glory. Pharmacology class should be interesting today. Couadin- immediate jeopardy in a little pill. Ah, yes I remember it well!
