Graduating in December? Please let the econ advisors know if you plan to apply for one of these. The Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center at the Urban Institute (UI) has posted two new position openings. Information about the positions and how to apply are available at the links below. UI conducts research on social and economic issues to foster sound public policy and effective government. The Center’s work in particular investigates factors that shape the quality of life in metropolitan communities, the opportunities they offer residents, and the effectiveness of public policies that govern urban housing and neighborhoods. Research Assistant: https://jobs-urban.icims/jobs/1887/research-assistant/job • Responsibilities will consist of a full range of research tasks, but a particular focus will be learning various mapping tools and programming languages to analyze unstructured data and produce visuals for blogs and other publications. Other tasks will include producing literature reviews; processing and analyzing data; conducting qualitative field work; contributing to writing reports and other products; and assisting the center in communicating key research findings to the public. Experience with mapping programs and knowledge of at least one programming language is required. Research Associate: https://jobs-urban.icims/jobs/1886/research-associate-ii/job • Responsibilities will consist of a full range of research and research management tasks, with a special focus on managing and analyzing quantitative data. Other tasks include producing literature reviews; conducting qualitative field work; managing projects; supervising and training research assistants; contributing to writing reports and other products; and assisting the center in communicating key research findings to the public. Knowledge of SAS and data management required.
