Grady Dean Wilson, ELIZABETHTON 2nd Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” Grady Dean Wilson, 76, Elizabethton, went home to be with his Lord Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in the Johnson City Medical Center following an illness of three years. A native of Carter County, he was a son of the late Sol and Sarah Hayes Wilson. Grady was a retired employee of CAN TECH Industries. He was a member of the New Liberty Free Will Baptist Church. He was a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge # 238. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by five brothers: Vern, Robert Kay, Lonnie, Ernest, Mike and Edward Wilson; and a sister: Ina Ward. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years: Sofia Peters Wilson; Two Sisters: Liz Mercer and husband, Robert, West Columbia, Texas, and Carolyn Milam, Johnson City; Three Brothers: J.C. Wilson and wife, Ruth, Ralph Wilson and wife, Lee, and Arlie “Skip” Wilson, all of Elizabethton; His Sisters-in-Law: Ann Lowe, Marie Wilson and Hazel Wilson, all of Elizabethton, and Mildred Wilson, Angleton, Texas; his special cousin: Monett & George Shupert, Dayton, Ohio; his life-long friends: Kenneth, Carolyn & Susan Colbaugh. Graveside Service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014, in the Blevins Cemetery (Stoney Creek) with the Rev. Ray Colbaugh, Rev. Brian Smith and Rev. Nick Colbaugh officiating. Burial will follow the service. Active Pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, will be: Lynn Peters, Rick Taylor, Aaron Taylor, Grant Taylor, Andy Wilson, Randy Wilson, Tommy Deyton, Josh Deyton, Aaron Greer and Keith Wilson. Honorary pallbearers will be his church family, members of the Carter County Rescue Squad, the Staff of Pine Ridge Care Center, his nieces, nephews & special kids. To those who prefer, memorials may be made in memory of Mr. Wilson to the Blevins Cemetery, ? Vera Smith, 1650 Highway 91, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37643; or the Carter County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 776, Elizabethton, Tenn. 37644. The family will receive friends from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Friends may also visit with the family at the residence.
