Grafton Big River Bullrouts In September this year, Mar Del Plata, Argentina will host the20th running of the Golden Oldies World Rugby Festival and for the Grafton Big River Bullrouts preparations are about to get underway . The touring squad will put on a display of champagne rugby on a world stage !!!! Prior to the squad touring South America there will be several games held in the Northern Rivers from as far south as Port Macquarie to the QLD border, including Grafton’s “Six Pack” tournament scheduled for the last Saturday of the July race week. For all interested people who wish to participate, the requirements in Golden Oldies Rugby are quiet simple, Male or Female, over 35 year old, ability to enjoy the Fun, Friendship and Fraternity that Golden Oldies Rugby can provide. Ability and Rugby skill are NOT essential. Golden Oldies Rugby can be demanding on the body, particularly for those who indulge in late night ‘bonding sessions’ For those who aspire to the notion that rugby is the ‘game they play in heaven’ - and are not too far off a stroll through the pearly gates themselves - rules have been introduced to accommodate players of all ages. Bullrouts have monthly meetings held the first Monday of each month starting with February 3rd 2014 at the Australian Hotel South Grafton at 7:00 pm. All new members are most welcome There also will be a recruitment and sign on lunch at the the Australian Hotel at a date and time to be fixed during February. “Training” will also commence at Rugby Park South Grafton at 6:00 pm every Tuesday starting in February 2014 A former New Zealand sports writer once wrote The Golden Oldies Experience begins when you accept that youre at far greater risk from what you may do to yourself and have done to you socially than anything which may happen to you on the field.
