Grassroots Coaches Training Course Commences on Tuesday In its desire to upgrade the capacity of grassroots coaches and identify talents from tender ages, the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) Technical Department will commence a Grassroots Training Course for 39 participants at the SLFA Academy from Tuesday 29th April to Saturday 3rd May. The course is an official FIFA course and will be instructed by Mr AVRY Yvon, the technical FIFA assistant to Sierra Leone. According to the Technical Director, John Jebboh Sherrington, the training will be intense with both theoretical and practical aspect noting that it will be climaxed on the final day with a festival involving 200 under 12 kids practising on the Academy pitch before the presentation of certificates to the participants. “This course will help participants gain knowledge in handling young talents as well as helping the SLFA to identify talents at a tender age. By identifying tender talents, it simply means, we will be starting from afresh to build a strong foundation for the future of our national teams,” the Technical Director said. The Minister of Sports Paul Mohamed Kamara and several dignitaries will be attending both the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. In another development, the Technical Department has cancelled the proposed second course that was slated for Makeni City due to the fact that no participant registered from either of the provinces (North, East and South). However, the eight participants proposed by Johnny McKinstry coming from these regions and working with the Craig Bellamy Foundation (CBF) have been invited to participate in the course at SLFA academy next week.
