Great Responsibility In Honor of Matthew Koenigs Dear Donation Committee, Great Responsibility is a non-profit organization with the goals of raising funds for scholarships to benefit students who have shown an overall improvement in GPA. We are holding a fundraising event on August 23, 2014 in order to raise funds for the scholarship program. We are humbly requesting donations for a raffle and/or auction that will be a main source of funding for our scholarship program. Great Responsibility honors Matthew Koenigs who lost his life in an auto crash due to the other driver’s negligence. Speed and failure to use due care were major factors in the crash. Through our program we hope to raise awareness in the responsibilities that are given to us all. Of course we were inspired by the need to honor Matt’s life, we also drew inspiration from a famous Spider Man comic, “with great power, there must also come great responsibility” (The Amazing Spider-Man, Issue 1). We believe that higher education is a great responsibility, and the option to go to college is not always afforded to everyone. We would like to make a difference in that aspect. Scholarships are normally awarded to the best students. We believe that everyone deserves a second chance, and our scholarship will be awarded to students who do not necessarily have the best GPA, but to those that have shown an improvement in their GPA. We hope that you will honor our request for a donation. We will take any donation that is awarded to us and your organization will be cited in a public announcement at the event and in our newsletter.
