Great Tournament in Burlington. Robert Renolds went 2.5 of 3 to win the Open Section, Barry Vigil swept the U1200 section with 4.0 and Malachi Campbell went 2.5 of 4 to win the Unrated section, but since everyone joined USCF the entire tournament was rated. We raised $70 for the poor, we collected 5lb of food. And everyone wanted to do it again. One fun fact is Carl Dunn, he last played in a tournament in Burlington in 2005, before that he had a tournament called Murderers Row and there were 5 participants. The Open section of yesterdays tournament there were 4 of the 5 participants from 10 years ago. Another fun fact is there were 4 father/son/daughter chess teams present. The Vigils, Johnsons, Campbells and Printys. The Printys won 2nd and 3rd in the U1200, the Campbells won 1st and 2nd in the Unrated, Shawn Johnson won 3rd in the unrated. It was so family friendly, I look forward to more chess in the SE Iowa Tri-State area. Carl Dunn even remembered a younger Clive Power who is the grandson of his next door neighbor.
