Great brainstorming meeting with Future Farmers of America class at Stissing Mountain High School in Pine Plains about the need for more and better agricultural education in NY. Cornell recently closed their well known ag teacher training program. These kids are right on about the job and career opportunities in the food, farming and ag sectors, as well as the importance to everyone of knowing where our food comes from, how it is grown and produced, farmers roles as stewards of the environment and more. I dont see the demand for local food abating anytime soon, but will we be able to meet it? Theres hope for the future with these FFA members thinking ahead.
