Great comments by everyone on yesterdays question. In the spirit of Whos Line Is It, I am awarding points to Amanda Martin Harvey and Phil Harding - 250 points each for their comments/answers. The answer I had in mind for whats the best time to check your smoke alarm - Right Now! But Amanda and Phils comments go well beyond that. Its not just about checking the electronics, its about the drill for the kids, the escape plan, and as we say in the fire service train like you (should) do. A retired deputy fire chief once said if you are doing something for the first time when the emergency happens, it will be nothing less than spectacular. That considerably sarcastic commentary was aimed at fire crews, but in the home setting - spectacular will not be a good thing. Test the alarms, train the kids and yourselves on how to react when the alarm sounds - no matter what time of the day or night. Thanks again for the comments, more questions to come! PS. I wonder what Joe Harvey had for dinner last night? :)
