“Great for a short getaway from Singapore!” 4 of 5 starsReviewed 3 days ago NEW My wife and I have been consistently coming back to this resort since 2005-6 and it never fails to live up to our expectations for service, simplicity and comfort. This time round its no different. We had stopped coming during the period of 2010 to 2013 mainly because of work travels but when we came back last weekend, we were not disappointed. Its like we continued from where we left off. From the reservation process via email to the transfer from the Waterfront City ferry terminal, from the smooth check-in, F&B quality to the facilities and check out, you can expect the staff to be helpful and reliable. Even Frank Schoenherr the General Manager would personally attend to my questions patiently via email and also made sure his team took care of every request I had. Usman, his recreation team manager, was ever willing and available to arrange transport and sincere recommendations for places of interest and food options outside of the hotel. Jerry Goh, the resident manager, and Yuhdi from his team would also make sure we were able to find out way to the room in the large property grounds. Nela and Ria from the Terrace Cafe was also prompt, polite, ever-willing to offer their service and warm conversations whenever we had meals there. Leslie Tan whos the F&B manager, was always on hand to make sure we were well taken care of food and beverage-wise and we had good conversations about local food culture. And Setiadi who made up our room took great care to ensure a clean room for us and on the 2nd last day, even made us a beautiful pair of courting swans on our bed from towels! Lily from the Front Desk got us our ferry boarding passes and checked us our with efficiency and large smile. All said, our 3 nights at the resort were far from dull - esp with the latest TVs which allowed you to playback your own content stored in your own USB harddrives/thumbdrives or via a HDMI cable connected to your computer (bring your own cables and devices!) Only downsides perhaps are that the property is looking a bit tired but that said, the team keeps it clean, well maintained and manicured. And the location is quite remote - a bit of a drive away from the city and other local tourist sights, about 30-45 mins - Not an issue for us though. The award winning Tea Tree Spa within the hotel again delivered an unforgettable spa experience - be sure to book early in advance and its a popular place! All in all, a great return experience and a timely reminder that we had been away from the resort for far too long. Highly recommended! Tks Frank and team Holiday Inn Resort Batam! No wonder you have a 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence - well deserved! Room Tip: Join the IHG Rewards program at a gold level or higher and get guaranteed upgrades and other rewards...
