The recently passed resolution now allows for owner occupied properties, that due to not having a tax exemption filed, to now file for a tax exemption so that they will not be subject to Residential A property taxes. HBR will provide information on how to file for Tax Compromise in next week’s member E-News. • Resolution 14-179 (attached) was passed by the Full Council on Wednesday, August 13, 2014 by unanimous vote • A form to file for a Residential A Classification & Tax Compromise can be found here: realpropertyhonolulu/ • The Property Owner must file the compromise form by September 30, 2014. Deliver or mail (post office cancellation mark) the completed form and the Claim for Home Exemption with supporting documentation on or before September 30, 2014 to: o Real Property Assessment Division 842 Bethel Street, Basement Honolulu, HI 96813 Telephone: (808) 768-3799 OR o Real Property Assessment Division 1000 Uluohia Street #206 Kapolei, HI 96707 Telephone: (808) 768-3169 • This claim cannot be filed by facsimile transmission. For a receipted copy, submit with a self-addressed stamped envelope. It is highly recommended that the property owner request a receipted copy for their records. • In the meantime, property owners are advised to pay for their property tax bill on time to avoid a penalty.
