Great review of Wild Willy Barretts French Connection by Simon Icke... We had a great evening at the Limelight last Saturday - thanks to all the staff there and to everyone that came to see us (for those unable to get tickets this time because we sold out, we are coming back in June 2014). A special thanks also to Simon Icke, for his review below: Willy Barretts French Connection with John Devine & Mary Holland featuring the highly acclaimed Parisienne singer songwriter Marie-Laure Hucher What a very special surprise at The Limelight Theatre, Aylesbury tonight 19 October 2013) to a sell out audience: Wild Willy Barretts French Connection and unique mix of British folk with such variety and musical improvisation and multi-talented use of numerous instruments and mix of singing in both English & French , led by the amazing and fun Willy Barrett , his very talented musical wife Mary Holland ( from Aylesbury, originally I believe ) and the sublime yet incredibly talented musician John Devine .. but perhaps the most interesting twist: the French Connection via the very attactive, tres joli femme Francaise : superb singer song writer Marie-Laure Hucher (Mary -Laure Cheminais) with mesmerising vocals in French and English interrupted by some stylish impromptu dancing in front of the stage; inviting members of the audience to dance with her, very interesting indeed... addto this a unique mix of the dry but fun humour from Willy & John ... this folk band is very different than anything else you will experience in the UK at the moment ...cest neuvelle musique en Angleterre :French/ English singing with some superb mix of instruments from banjo to guitar , keyboards, and even Irish bag pipes and much more to make some incredible sounds and wonderful songs ( even a bit of Edith Piaf thrown in ) ... what a wonderful evening of unique and fresh musical entertainment... wait till the thousands of London French expats discover Wild Willy Barretts French Connection... Londons South Kensington French quarter what are you waiting for?.... by Simon Icke
