Greatly enjoyed the panel discussion hosted by the The Oklahoma Academy on the issue of healthcare in Oklahoma. I thought it was a great exchange of ideas and information. I will repeat what I mentioned there, that I believe we have a rare opportunity or window in Oklahoma to reform our Medicaid program in such a way that while providing a safety net to those for which it was intended, we can at the same time make it a system that encourages those on the system to move off of the system. For me, compassion is about finding ways that those trapped in the chains of entitlements can find a way to escape, thus giving them the greatest opportunity to become the best that they can possibly be. For those of us that come from very humbly beginnings to achieve at least some level of success, there is nothing more we would want for others but for them to have the same or even greater level of success than we have enjoyed.
