Greece is warming up for their 3rd Alternative Festival of Solidarity & Collaborative Economy to be held in Athens, 10-12 October 2014. It is a self-managed meeting point for grassoots collectives and struggles to connect and share knowledge. Round 200 alternative groups from all over Greece participate and hundreds of volunteers help organise. Participants vary from social clinics and solidarity pharmacies to social centres, squats, time banks, social kitchens, traditional seed banks, eco-communities, cooperatives or solidarity and exchange networks, including initiatives like the workers self-managed factory of Vio.Me. or the Kinisi 136 water movement, amongst others. This year they want to reach out to the rest of Europe to build links and share experiences with struggles in other countries facing similar challenges.
