Greetings All! No excuses, no moaning over the personal on slot - TopicsExpress

Greetings All! No excuses, no moaning over the personal on slot afforded me. Here is my next snippet from The Rising of Julian Adams. This is an interlude after a battle when the community is working together to pick up the pieces, in some cases, literally. Another horde ascends towards Julians battle-tested warriors. My next post might be something along the lines of Traviss fight-hardy enthusiasm. ________________________________________________________ Jimmy’s back line was unable to protect all the neighbors who came out during the ruckus of the beast attack. They hoped the beast-bitten and the many grotesquely torn would regain their humanity. Sarah was a good, natural Watcher assigned to Malcolm’s house. When the bodies were delivered to her, she reluctantly accepted. Who was she to argue? She found their bodies appalling both for the doubt they represented, and the dreadful battle wounds. “Are you kidding me?” Sarah complained pointing at the worst of them. “Those have no chance of waking right! All of them were beast bitten. Isn’t that fatal?” “We have to try. We bit several of them so some might not be contaminated. Look,” Julian said pointing to the best of them. “They don’t look like those mangy things bit them. They’re not exactly subtile when they attack. I promise you, there are plenty of warriors here to help you when the time comes. Michael will know and order them to back you up. I know theyre hard to look at. Just go in the other room and listen for their first stirrings. If someone doesn’t come immediately, go to the door and yell for help,” he encouraged. She looked cross at him replying, “Why is this my job in the first place? Bring in one of the tough ones now. I’ll gladly do my part somewhere else.” “Sarah, you’re one of the few trained Watchers we have, and Esther thinks highly of you. I’d switch the two of you, but the children have really bonded with her. That’s important right now, and so is your job.” Meanwhile, many took advantage of the extended feast even delivering one woman to Esther. She served the fresh body to her children. It helped occupy their minds and keep them from the warzone outside. They weren’t to come out until she received an all-clear call from her husband or contacted directly by someone else working on the cleanup. Nothing had been easy, the cleanup work alone was daunting, but they were encouraged by their profound sense of unity. Suddenly another wave of beasts crested the hill. Nobody smelled them coming because of the soiled battlefield. Preparation wasn’t an issue this time around since their bond was made so strong during their silent pledge to Julian and one another. This group of attackers was charging into hell!
