Greetings from Eastleigh for a blessed Passion Sunday, recalling the inestimable gift of God, of His beloved Son on the Cross. Thoughts this week have come from Gods apparent prompting at yesterdays cathedral quiet day. As Christ allowed himself to hang on the Cross, in agony, asking why his Father had forsaken Him, we remember all those presently feeling alone, lost, confused. May they know that, as they cower in the fog of loneliness, God is always standing there, waiting for them to call out from that fog and that He will always come to their side to lead them out of their struggle and back to His safe path. We ask for wisdom and godliness for all spiritual directors and retreat leaders, who seek to put themselves to one side, to point others towards their own path in Gods purpose. May we all be moved to seek out those marginalised and isolated by society, the homeless, the poor, those with physical, mental health, spiritual needs and disabilities, those seemingly unlovable ones according to societys rules, and to be the face and grace of God to them. May we who have seen the face of Jesus Christ the Son, know that we have also seen the face of God the Father and that we are called to reflect its beauty to ALL whom we meet. As Christ taught us in the parable of the Prodigal Son, may we know that nothing and especially no-one will ever be rejected by God because, He rejoices in every part and person of His creation, especially those who have been wandering and lost, just as the lost sheep. May we all be equally ready to offer the grace of forgiveness to others and to know the grace of allowing ourselves to be forgiven. We ask that we may seek out, and take up opportunities of quiet and reflection and that we become sensitive enough to give space and time to others, accepting that the message being offered to them, might not be the same as that offered to ourself and vice versa. May God help us to accept that we may not each hear the still small voice exactly when we expect to but, may have to wait the last moment of our reflection time, or even beyond, to hear and be shown the thing that is special for ourself. We ask for Gods care, closeness and protection for all those suffering illness, and the confusion of sudden pain and disease, especially those young people who are suddenly faced with an apparent blighting of their lives and hopes, that they may come to know and trust, that God has a special purpose for them and will walk with them on a different path in a new direction. May God bless us ALL, this Passion Sunday and always.
