Greetings in the name of Jesus, the Good Shepherd In August we requested prayer following the conviction and sentencing of Mostafa, a believer from a Muslim background. Recall that he was arrested on 27th December 2012 in Tehran and on 9th June he appeared in court on charges of attending an illegal gathering and participating in a house church. On 31st July his lawyer was handed an eight-page document stating that Mostafa had been convicted and sentenced to ten years imprisonment. The document detailed the charges and the evidence for each charge. His lawyer submitted an appeal We are pleased to report that his appeal was successful. The appeal hearing was held on 30th October at which Mostafa was given opportunity to address each charge against him. The court decided to withdraw all the charges and he was released from Evin prison yesterday (i.e. 3rd November). Across Iran, many other believers remain imprisoned or are awaiting court hearings or the outcome of appeals. Christians supporting Mostafa rejoice in his release and thank us for our prayers. They request our continued intercession, asking that: a. He will know the presence and peace of Jesus each day as he adjusts to normal living b. All who face ongoing legal proceedings will know the Spirits guiding wisdom, that charges will be dropped or that they will be acquitted, and that bail payments will be returned c. Clemency will be shown to those whose appeals have been rejected, and that they will be released soon d. All officials involved will love mercy, act justly, learn about Jesus and choose to follow Him e. Hassan Rouhani, elected President of Iran in June, will honour his campaign pledges to improve the manner in which the rights and liberties of all Iranian citizens are respected by the government.Greetings in the name of Jesus, the Good Shepherd In August we requested prayer following the conviction and sentencing of Mostafa, a believer from a Muslim background.
