Greetings of Peace and Solidarity! A Call to All Filipinos to Assert the Constitutional Right to Legislate Laws Through People’s Initiative The People’s Initiative Against Pork Barrel (PIAP) is a campaign born out of the mass disgust of the people against state corruption through the use of discretionary and lump sum funds. It has been the child of various mass demonstrations against the now-unconstitutional Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) and the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), as classical examples. As Filipinos, we defended the people from the widespread corruption that the government brings upon the people, and ultimately, as one of the main conveners of PIAP. And with a lot of peoples declaration of support to People’s Initiative, the PIAP will play the biggest role in the campaign for truth and accountability. Our united ranks against the rotten system of corruption in the country have clearly been for the better. For the advancement and further success of our campaign, we will be forming PIAP district committees in Cavite to spread the word about the pork barrel system and advance the people’s movement for clean and transparent governance through a People’s Initiative. To make this a reality, we will be having our PIAP-Cavite Conveners Meeting this September 13, 2014, 9 ‘o clock in the morning at Union Theological Seminary located at Pala-Pala, Sampaloc 1, Dasmariñas, Cavite. And in line with this, we would like to invite you and your office along with all the parishes, schools, institutions, groups and individuals in Cavite to be part of the conveners in forming the People’s Initiative Against Pork Barrel System in the province. The meeting will discuss in depth the issue of the pork barrel system and plan for the signature gathering in the province. We need at least 200,000 signatures for Cavite Province alone, so we better start gathering signatures in our communities, churches, schools, and other institutions in our society.
