Growing up in the Twin Cities area, I always wanted to come to a show at First Ave. All the iconic bands seemed to play here -- all the bands I wasnt allowed to listen to when I was younger (remember when you found my Green Day CD, Dad?). I remember hearing stories of people watching this little band from Ireland play here in the early 80s (U2 -- which rumor has it they wrote October during their sound check here) and thinking how awesome it would be to see an up and comer play here. Who knew that years later, long after I had moved out of Minnesota, my first time at this historic venue would be to watch a performance by my wife -- an up and comer if there ever was one. Not gonna lie folks, but Im a little choked up.
