Guardiola wants to bring Brazil international David Luiz to the Allianz Arena. New Bayern Munich head-coach Pep Guardiola is interested in signing Chelsea defender David Luiz, according to Spanish publication Sport. The Spaniard has reportedly met Bayern’s sporting director Mathias Sammer to discuss summer transfer business, with the Brazil international high on the duo’s agenda. The European champions are likely to be in touch with Chelsea in the coming days, following reports in the UK media that returning Blues manager Jose Mourinho is willing to sell Luiz. Although the Bavarians are confident of affording Luiz, Mourinho may be reluctant to allow the 26-year-old to join Bayern ahead of his meeting with long-time rival Guardiola in the European Super Cup on 30 August. Sammer and Bayern’s board are thought to be keen to welcome Guardiola to the Allianz Arena with at least one major signing this summer, but Confederations Cup winner Luiz could cost in excess of £30m and is also reportedly wanted by La Liga giants Barcelona. -jla
