Guess Im full of it today. There must be work I dont want to do. The following are some thoughts I started to write down a few years back. Hopefully they will stimulate some Hope & Change Out of seven BILLION people on earth, many (3billion plus) believe a divine entity created the universe. We worship and pray for guidance from; God, Allah, YHWA, “Vishnu, Shiva, Brahma”, Siddhartha Gautama etc. Many (1billion plus) seek their guidance internally, professing belief in no deity. No matter which of these we’ve chosen; history offers enlightening Parallels. Egypt, Persia, Greece, Rome, Spain, France, Great Brittan, and Russia, became world powers and declined in decadence; led by the corruption of their politicians. As we study each, the reasons for their downfall becomes apparent. We struggled out from poverty to an easy life with; abundant food, comfortable accommodations, and freedom to pursue our imaginations. We sacrificed bits of our freedom for our various lusts. The politicians protected us from ourselves to an increasingly higher state of governmental servitude. Then we found ourselves in a quagmire of dictatorship, socialism, monarchy, communism etc. Our freedom disappeared gradually over generations, so gradually that we didn’t even see it slip away. The politicians won favor making promises. They paid for the promises with increased taxes. They legislated the exchange of freedom for sloth. The oppressed escaped to new undeveloped countries where they could work and die for the freedom their parents sold for silver. One day Americans will wake up and where will we go? China or India will be the world power and exploration of the universe has been forsaken? Do we want our freedom back: Lincoln made it clear “that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” Was this just more political BS? Do we want the Republic and our freedom back? Or do we want to; sit back, watch a football game, and drink beer while the government takes care of us? An image by Joe
