Guess Where the Honey Comes From?! If you said Jefferson - TopicsExpress

Guess Where the Honey Comes From?! If you said Jefferson County, NY, you are right! On “CBS This Morning” earlier today, CBS correspondent Vladimir Duthiers reported on a new product that’s heating up the condiment aisle nationwide. It’s called Mike’s Hot Honey and it’s featured in retail stores and pizzerias across the United States and can be found as far away as Kuwait. Orders just came in from Williams Sonoma for stores in the U.S., Canada and Australia. But the best part is the honey comes from one of the sweetest places in the World, Jefferson County NY. Our honey bees fly from flower to flower collecting the nectar special to our cool climate. The bees turn the nectar into honey and the honey is collected by beekeeper Grant Stiles who owns Many Flowers Honey Company of Jefferson County. The honey is processed in a small plant in Redwood NY. Jefferson County was until recently, one of the largest honey producing Counties in NYS. Although we don’t produce the most anymore, it certainly is used in many food and beverage products like Mike’s Hot Honey and the Thousand Islands Winery uses it to make their Mead wine.
