Guildford News - Housing at Rosehill The West quote the developers of the proposed Rosehill housing as saying the new housing will be as quiet as being in a library. Been in a library lately? Psst libraries are noisy places. Its not like the good old days where you could hear a pin drop. These days you need earplugs in a library to work. We wear earplugs each night to get to sleep as we live under the flight path in Perth. We live 0.7kms from the proposed Rosehill development and further from the airport and still cant sleep. Housing on the Rosehill Site is anyone asking the following? Is the community aware that there is no statuary, regulatory framework or Government body to control, access or determine the adequacy of insulation once it is installed in any houses in Western Australia? Did you know a developer could put in the best insulation available right now but will it be good enough and who will measure such? How much will incredible noise insulation cost future residents? Why would such super noise insulation be necessary anyway? Ought people thinking about buying in such an estate look to studies done on affects of noise by Professor Gary Evans at Cornel University? These are questions that perhaps need answering.
