Gujarat Rajput Society January 8, 2013 at 8:51pm · Dabhi Rajput ------------------------------------------------------------------ The Dabhi claim descent from an ascetic named Dabshilim, who had a claim to the throne. At his request Mahmud of Ghazni carried him to Ghazni for safe custody another Dabshilim, a relative whose pretensions the newly made king dreaded, and detained him until king Dabshilim was securely seated on his throne, when he sent him back to Gujarat at the kings request. When the prisoner approached Anhilvara the king, according to custom, went forth to meet him, and, arriving at the appointed spot before him, passed the time in hunting. At length, overpowered by the heat and by fatigue, he lay down under a tree to rest, covering his face with a red handkerchief. A bird of prey, taking the handkerchief for a piece of flesh, swooped down upon it and, driving his talons into the kings eyes, destroyed his sight. One so injured was disqualified from reigning, and the prisoner Dabshilim, arriving at that moment, was acclaimed by the popular voice as king, while the blinded man was confined in the dungeon under the throne-room which he had destined for his relative.[2] Dabshilim is well known in Muslim literature as the king to whom the Brahman, Pilpay, related the fables of the jackals Kalila and Dimna, which have been translated into Arabic and Turkish, and twice into Persian, but the name is unknown in Indian history and it is difficult to connect it with any Indian king. It has been suggested that Mahmud, after the flight of Bhim I, appointed his uncle, Durlabha, to the government, and that the two Dabshilims represent Durlabha and his son, but Lt.-Colonel Tods explanation appears to be more probable. He says that the Dabhis were a well known tribe, said by some to be a branch of the Chawaras, who had preceded the Solankis on the throne of Gujarat, and suggests that the name is a compound of Dabi Chawara. Dabhi Rajputs are original Solanki Rajputs. Solanki rajput is Agnivanshi rajput. Hence Dabhi are also Agnivanshi rajput. because as per history four rajput have been came out from Agani kund of Anilkhand (Abu At presetn Achalgadh) namely Solanki, Chauhan, Pratihar, Paramr. Gotra of the Dabhi/Solanki rajput is Bhardvaj. Gotradevei is Bhrumani mataji (it appears that it would be Bramani). The Kuldevata is Shiv. First Kuldevei was Ganga Mataji thenafter Bahucharmataji and theafter Khodiyar Mataji. Solanki Rajput is from Tunk Toda Rajshthan. Shri Darbhsen had established Dabhadgadh state in Katchchh in Vikram Savant 979, Hence they have been called as Dabhi. Shri Devisinh Dabhi was ruler of Dabhadgadh her daughter Swarupba had married with Zuzarsinh ruler of Marvad and in the dowary/Kariyavar all village of state Dabhadgadh have been given to Zuzajarsinh. Then after Ravatsinh Dabhi in Vikarm Savant 999 had won 125 village of Patan from one Solanki ruler and established Bhildi State. Ravatsinh Dabhi had gone to Khedgadh to help the ruler Gohil of the said state as Rathod Rajputs had attacked on the Khedgadh. Ravatsinh Dabhi died in that battle. Son of Ravatsinh shri Aasakaranji Dabhi become ruler of Bhiladi State. Sister of Aaskaranji Kumari Devkunvaraba married with ruler of Idar in vikram savant 1380. Then after Aasalji Dabhi was the ruler of the Bhiladi State. He was very great warrior he was called as Ranmal. But he lost Bhiladi state in the battle against Arjundev Vaghela in Vikram savant 1396. Aasalji Dabhi with the help of Idar ruler had started Baharvatu against ruler Vaghela. In Vikaram savant 1405 Asalaji Dabhi came at Village Dangarava Dist, Mehasana and established Gadi/state with the help of idar ruler. Kuldevi of Dabhi rajputs was Bahuchar Mataji. In the vikaram savant 1428 Khodiyar Mataji blessed the ruler Aasalji hence now Khodiyar Mataji is Kuldevi. Aasalji had also built the temple of Momai Mataji as Momai Mataji was the village Devi. then after Naharji Dabhi was the ruler and then after S Dabhi Mahavirsinh k At=Shindraj Ta=dholka Di=ahmdabad
