Gul Nawaz Khaki, born February 1934, was an influential left-wing intellectual, Khowar writer, and one of the most famous poets of the Khowar language from Chitral. A notable member of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Khaki was an avowed Jiyala. He was educated from State High School Chitral.After education he joined health department, later on he worked in different institutions such as Pak Army, Revenue, Police and information department NWFP. 1964, Khaki joined a literary movement, Anjuman-e Chitrar and was appointed its first member by his fellow Wazir Ali Shah. Some years later he became the vice-president of Anjuman-e Tariq e Khowar Chitral. He has participated for compilation of LoK Kahaniyan, a book written by Ghulam Umar. In 2005 he became president of same institution. Khaki was influenced by the works of his predecessors. He wrote a half dozen of books on Khowar poetry Thoron, Mir e Karawan, Sornic etc. He used more and more demands for the development of socialism in the country, finding socialism the only solution of countrys problems.
