Guys. A family of roof rats have decided to move into my crawlspace permanently AND have decided to climb up inside my walls. Plan A was to close up the crawlspace (leaving a small area open) and any other entry points, and trap them when they left at night. After evicting them, we were going to close up that last part of crawlspace. Well, as much as this kills my bleeding heart, I think shits about to change. One has found its way into my den every night this week. I am stumped as to how its getting in. Then last night I could hear them running in the void behind my closet wall. I cant use bait - because, besides the fact that its a long painful horrible way to kill them, theyll die in the walls which means death smell and blowflies. Also, any hawks, owls, or cats that get one will also be poisoned. Ive done so much research and it seems the only choice I have is to use snap traps. Most humane way to kill them. But how do you even use snap traps when theyre not actually in your house but inside the walls? Uggghhhhh. Rat-gate 2014, coming soon.
