HAPPY DIWALI AND KALI PUJA Kali has a very fearful form. Her tongue is stretched out, she has a sword in her one hand and in another hand she has a severed head from which blood is dripping. She wears a garland of skulls. She has a waist band of chopped off hands. Very terrifying form, very fearful. What does this mean? Why do we worship such a fearful kali? Children get terrified when they see a picture of kali. In south India, people would hide a picture of kali from children. Her worship is not very prevalent. There is a secret behind this. This is a method to drive away fear. If you worship and love the fearful figure of Kali, we will never have fear in our life. Kali has a stretched out her tongue. This signifies silence. How can we talk with an outstretched tongue? Only Aaaa sound comes out with an outstretched tongue. Kali means black. From the pupil which is dark, light enters the eye, otherwise, everything is darkness. Kali signifies knowledge. She gives us the light of knowledge. You cannot attain light by talking continuously. You can attain light only by silence. Kali carries the severed head of a demon. All problems arise from the head. The heart has no problems. Problems are of the head and ego and a severed head signifies cutting the ego and absence of thoughts. Feelings do not cause any problems. All problems arise because of thoughts. We think and get into problems. All problems and illusions arise from the head. Cutting off the head means cutting off ego. This is also a method of meditation. If you have big worries, imagine your head is cut off. You will never know where your worries vanish. Every thing vanishes in a second. If you are being troubled by a person, if you are developing hatred towards that person, you are developing hatred towards that persons head. You can never hate a body minus the head. If you have an enemy and if you are facing problems because of the enemy, all the problems are due to the enemys head. There is no need to cut off the enemys head. Just imagine that the enemy has no head. Who can be your enemy? People who do good work cannot be enemies. People who do wrong become enemies. Imagine all those people who make mistakes, behave and act foolishly as having no head at all. That very moment all the enemity and hatred you have towards that person will vanish - Sri Sri
