HAVE YOU BROKEN YOUR PROMISE TO JESUS? “Simon, Simon, Satan - TopicsExpress

HAVE YOU BROKEN YOUR PROMISE TO JESUS? “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift all of you as wheat. But I have prayed for you, Simon, that your faith may not fail. And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers.”But he replied, “Lord, I am ready to go with you to prison and to death.” Jesus answered, “I tell you, Peter, before the rooster crows today, you will deny three times that you know me.” Luke 22:31-34 NIV Peter was so sure of himself that he could keep his promise to Jesus to be faithful even to death. But Jesus knew better. He could see right into his heart. I have often thought why did Jesus choose Peter to be the leader of the 12? He was the strongest, but yet He was the weakest one? Because Peter had the right heart, yet he couldn’t do anything without Jesus praying for him. Peter was totally dependent on Jesus, yet he didn’t know it at the time. What shame and guilt he must of felt when he couldn’t keep his promise to Jesus. What promises to Jesus have you broken? Not once, not twice, but more then you want to admit. Are you feeling shame and guilt today? No worries, Jesus already knew you couldn’t keep all your promises. He’s seen your heart and chooses you to be His follower before the foundations of the world (Eph. 1:4). He knew you couldn’t make it without Him. And that’s the way He wanted it, so no flesh could glory in His sight. He sits at the right hand of the Father interceding for you that your faith not fail (Romans 8:34). He is making a leader out of you so you can strength your fellow believers. You might not see it now, but don’t give up Jesus is praying for you. 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NIV Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.”
