HEADS UP : Musicians, singers, songwriters, musically creative people, perhaps even those interested in videography (is that a word?) and documentary film making .... Sunday, December 01, 2013, 6:00 pm until ???? - a jam session This is an occasion for creativity and cooperation to express themselves in music form. The objective is to put a bunch of musicians in a room with some simple recording equipment and some instruments (and some beers) and see what happens. It would be very useful if everyone who participates brings at least one or two song ideas to the event, but spontaneity is also a plus. At the very least, itll be a fun jam. Perhaps there might even be a few new original tunes created and even pretty well mixed and recorded on the spot. Super creative artist Matt Randel will be on hand to conduct the affairs and lead the way and provide a bit of coaching in one way or another in addition to settling disputes, putting down uprisings and extinguishing blazing infernos. There will likely be no or very few non-involved patrons at the place as it is not yet a fully functioning ready-for-action bar, but its very spacious and the owner is a cool person and also a musician. If you wish to participate, bring what you intend to use / play. There is no mixer/amp yet, but we will have several multi-track digital recording devices of considerable and sufficient capacity to at least make it worth the fun and effort. If anyone wants to bring an amp, feel free. There is no drum kit. There will be a good keyboard. I have two microphones that I will bring along and each of the recorders has two separate condenser mics. 2 + 2 + 2 ... You play and use what you bring. If you come, what you play and how you want to contribute is up to you but ultimately decided upon by Master Conductor Randel . If youre unplugged youre easy. If youre electric, bring what you need. Invite your friends and groupies if you want. However, I need a solid and reliable headcount by Saturday afternoon so that the owner can know how many people to prepare for. There will not be a fully open bar. However there will be 2 or 3 simple brands of beer available for purchase at 4,000 won per bottle. There are also options to order a variety of more expensive beverages and even food from an associated restaurant upstairs. However, this is NOT a B.Y.O. party. The owner is not trying to make a ton of money from this, but certainly we dont want to burden her with the costs of opening up the place for us, (heat, electricity, etc.) Its a creative jam. If you want to come and participate, bring it. Remember, most artists are very sensitive and picky and not good at taking criticism or suggestions. Dont be that way. Were not getting together to show off to each other or to spend the whole day playing cover tunes, although Im certain some of that is likely to occur. (We really just cant help ourselves, can we?) Be cool. Be creative. Be thick-skinned and willing to accept input from others that ultimately is simply going to make the end result better. Its a fun happy enjoyable time providing an opportunity for creative collaboration. How to get involved? Send me a message here on Facebook. Must know soon to prepare well! Decide now and let me know now. :) I will divulge exact location information only to those intending to be there, but for now, I can tell you its about a ten minute walk from Nok-Sa-Pyung subway station in the direction of the Han River and Ban-Po Bridge, in the area between the Capital Hotel and the Crown Hotel. There is parking available for those who drive and dont drink. For those bringing any equipment, and then desiring to leave it behind and store it to be picked up another day, it will be safe and secure and the owner will be joining us so arrangements and agreements can be figured out on the spot. What will you be doing Sunday afternoon while music is being made? Get involved!
