HEY GUYS share this post, because this is newsworthy! Im in north St. Louis at Florrissant Valley Community College doing something very constructive for the residents of Ferguson and surrounding area. Theres a HUGE job fair going on right now, and we are IN the middle of THOUSANDS of job seekers who are dressed up and looking to impress. Ive met accountants, mathematicians, engineers, construction workers, health care professionals, educators, and about every other background you can think of. There are several corporations and state agencies represented, and this is the biggest job fair I have ever witnessed in my entire life. Its a massive outpouring, and theres barely even room to walk though. Our agency decided to get involved because of our awesome director thought this would be the right thing to do in order to help improve the current situation in St. Louis. These corporations and state agencies are pitching in by seeking qualified applicants and offering real jobs, and they are even giving away food to people coming in need. This is the kind of activity that affects real change. This is impowerment. This is people helping people in a positive way. Im SO proud top be a part of this, and I am beyond impressed with the level of intelligence, education, and experience in this room. So while the press continues to focus on unruly people who have no regard for the law, demonstrators, and people sitting down on highways, please know that there also are tons of career minded forward looking individuals who live in this area that have high aspirations. THIS is what we should be showcasing to balance the negativity!
