HIGHER SNOW EAST, VERY LITTLE WEST Before I chat about our changes, here is a piece of the post I wrote Sunday morning about this storm (you can read more if you want lower down on my facebook wall): __________________________________ Posted by Adam Joseph Yesterday. TALE OF TWO SNOW STORIES, ONE CLEAR THE OTHER BLURRY While up this morning feeding Jacob, I started shaking my head looking at the latest information from last night. All of a sudden, some models are exploding the clipper to a beast of a Noreaster! If we lived in New England (Boston, Hartford) I would sound the alarm today for up to a foot of snow and Blizzard Conditions, but I am hesitant and at this point unsure how fast it deepens to give us a large amount of snow. This has a *HIGH BUST POTENTIAL*. As my producer reminded me, before I was in Philly, a storm like this in either 2001 or 2003 was showing 1-2 feet of snow and in the end only 1-3 inches fell....storms like this are extremely difficult to forecast because of the position the storm and location it is developing, hence the HORRIBLE MODEL DISAGREEMENT ____________________________________________ Whenever a storm develops and deepens near the NJ coast and NOT off the Carolinas, Phillys shot at seeing huge snow is very low due to the moisture moving north and away as it develops. If the storm was already in full explosive mode to our south, we would be in business with the plume of moisture heading right over the region. We did air totals for PHL at 6-10 earlier today since some information banked on some moisture pivoting in. I am just happy we never jumped on the large totals for Philly. If you live in eastern NJ you will still see decent snow totals: at the coast north of Atlantic City 10-14, Atlantic City 6-10 and south 2-6 Philadelphia and surrounding burbs we have 3-6 but could be even lower if the trend continues... West of Philadelphia and all of DE, 1-3 at most. I will check in with you in the morning, but have a great night and thank you to those who trusted me from my very first post.
