The production is a revival of the company’s first POP-Up opera in 2012. The atmosphere at the Ebell Club will be casual, with tables at which audience members can sit and enjoy a “bohemian feast” while watching the show — but they also can opt for more traditional seating. The cast features singers from the show’s original run, including Daria Somers, Katherine Giaquinto, E. Scott Levin and Robert Norman, plus Ryan Thorn, Keith Colclough and James Callon. And in keeping with the minimal theme, they will be accompanied by Stephen Karr on piano rather than a full orchestra. Along with the production’s updates, the chorus has been cut from the show and the main characters have been modernized into a graphic designer, screenplay writer, English major, indie rocker, fashion designer and actress.
