HISTORIC US- AFRICAN SUMMIT, SEE WHAT IS ON THE AMERICAN MEDIA - TopicsExpress

HISTORIC US- AFRICAN SUMMIT, SEE WHAT IS ON THE AMERICAN MEDIA HEADLINE NEWS. US- African first ever Summit is actively taking place in Washington DC, yet it could not make it on any of American mainstream media not even on yahoo headline news. Rather the following are what made it into the American media headline news of the day: American Doctor who contracted Ebola diseases arrives in the USA Nigeria confirms second Ebola patient Nigeria girl faces murder trial over forced marriage Panic grows as Nigeria doctor is infected with Ebola virus U.S. doctor quarantines himself at home after treating Ebola patients in Liberia. American Doctor with Ebola Received Experimental Antibody Serum Before U.S. Arrival Obama once said this was his favorite song As the US- African Summit heats up So do many unanswered questions are heating up as well I just left one of the some many hundreds of side Summits going on in Washington DC, frustrated because what I expected to see and hear were not even in any way in the agenda. It is not that I am up and against in the sleeves with the 2014 US-African Summit, it’s just that I see a holistic crap in the making. The riddle here is to know why would President Barrack Hussein Obama be organizing an all US African Heads of States Summit at the last lap of his administration when in actual fact, he has not significantly engaged Africa in any meaningful way in his foreign policy agenda? Could this summit then be a part of the continual continental insult on Africa by the West, how would inviting over 50 Heads of States for just a three day conference, be meaningful, engaging and sustainable when Obama has only one and have years in office? Is it possible that President Obama would be able to have an in-depth one on-one dialogue with each of the Head of State? What really does the President of the most powerful nation in the world want to achieve with the most crisis ridden nations of the world, a photo oops, a I tried my best for you stance, a common be glad I even invited you to my nation? I am very curious to know who this summit will have a lasting effect on African development. History has it that during the Presidencies of President W. Bush of his compassionate handing of HIV/AIDS and the millions of dollars his administration spent on finding solution to the HIV/AIDS epidemics in Africa. We also remember President Bill Clinton and his African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Africa still enjoys President John F Kennedy and his Peace Corps agenda which still is very much active in most African rural villages and schools to date. And Obama? Empowering Africa? It is true that the first Black President in the history of the United States of America has no signature policy that he could be held accountable on a broader African policy. Although the focus as I went out through the agenda was to bring into conversation Africa without poverty, not stricken with conflicts and disease, Africa not divided in line of regionalism and ethnicity, Africa not controlled by its political violence and religious bigotry But an empowered Africa in partnership relation and dialogue in moving, participating and empowering economic development for all concerned. . . Obama to his credit though, has organized the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) which has its short comings such as excluding many struggling African youths in the conversation? Any sustainable policy must be inclusive for both the rich and the poor in order to strengthen ties between the United States and Africa, one of the world’s most dynamic and fastest growing in the world. Us- African Summit for those following the African economic development closely will observe that Obama African summit is modeled after the China- African Summit. Africa is rising, business is growing, but the point is who gets the business and who gets the profit? International solidarity is not an act of charity or exploitation, rather a mutual dialogue on development in equal partnership. By the way, why didn’t the United States Government ensure that African civil society is afforded the opportunity to officially participate in the U.S-Africa Leaders Summit?.
