As we’ve learned down the years, however, few wounded animals carry as much menace as United in hard times. Old Trafford cranked up the volume to assure the players where their loyalties lay, before bellowing a primal scream into the November air as Darren Fletcher looped a header over Petr Cech and inside the far post at the Scoreboard End. The home support really came to the fore, roaring every tackle as the Blues slipped to a rare setback
