HMS CAROLINE TO BE SAVED The last floating link with the First World Wars historic Battle of Jutland, is to be saved. The Heritage Lottery Fund (Northern Ireland) have announced today the awarding of £11m towards the vessels restoration. Currently berthed in the Alexandra Graving Dock on Queens Island, the famous cruiser, and the equally historic graving dock, will both be transformed into a visitor attraction and opened in time for the 100th anniversary of the famous naval battle between the British and German fleets in 2016. HMS Caroline will add yet another important maritime attraction, providing a major boost to visitor numbers to Queens Island which has already been dubbed Heritage Island.
