HOBBY LOBBY Yeah, the whole Hobby Lobby thing: Constitutionally speaking, SCOTUS got it right, so shut up. There is no constitutional obligation for an employer to supply contraception coverage to anyone. (They damned well better be consistent in also refusing to provide ED treatment, though! The two really go hand-in-hand.) Even OSHA has no legal authority over companies with less than fifty employees. So, if youre a business owner, and you operate a company with three dozen employees, you are under no federal obligation to provide safety training or equipment. (Your Workers Comp insurance will likely suffer, but youre not under a federal mandate.) At issue here is not what we think is right. Whats at issue is what is constitutionally required, and healthcare coverage is not required. Hell, companies who do provide healthcare coverage for their employees can STILL pick-and-choose the coverage that theyll agree do: This has been going on for decades, and is perfectly legal. Its THE VERY REASON WHY AFLAC IS POPULAR, because companies do not have to provide this kind of coverage. So, no, Hobby Lobby is not required to provide contraception coverage for its employees...... .......and we are not required to shop in its stores. (It actually disturbs me that I come across as a Libertarian in this post.) :(
