HOME AND AWAY: The Hard Truth about Sierra Leone It is a pity we have a nation that is ruled by a boss not a leader. Management science had taught us that a boss instructs but do not motivate whereas a leader instructs and motivates those governing. Motivation is in two folds, financial (wage, salary, bonus) and non-financial (example, sound human relationship). Sierra Leone continue to be ruled by people that only understand the language of dominant self, in quantitative terms self-interest is 98% and national interest is 2%. The culture of dominant self- interest has eaten the fabric of the nation, something that originates from the top (that is those responsible for national strategic decision making). The country is tailor made by incoming and outgoing bosses not leaders in such a way that only 5% of the population are enjoying 80% of the gross domestic product (that is income from consumers, public and private sector investments, using the income approach). These leaders are appointed by the people with the intention that they can be saved out of chronic problems, but the end result when in governance is creating a hellish and uncomfortable atmosphere for them. They bosses, when in power, are urged to create a model of secret killers to eliminate any one trying to expose their excesses, and they do this without being held accountable. There are questions still hanging on the burning of A.N.Mustapha in his house and other latent killings. When shall we hear the truth about the secret killings in the country? When are they perpetrators of secret killing going to be held accountability? How can we be in a nation where the President and Ministers and underdogs can never face justice and be punished for it? More still, is the absence of credible opposition. The opposition tend to behave like the Football of the ruling party with no resolute principles. The situation in our country is pathetic and desires a total overhaul. The truth is they have still not learnt the experiences of our past civil war. The President, Ministers and underdogs have forgotten their bitter experiences of the past war. They are trading-off the creation of a better nation for wealth accumulation, something they going to die and leave in due course. God is watching our actions and the rain in Spain will only fall on the plain.
