HOME MADE CHALK PAINT TEST Anybody who knows me, KNOWS I am not a huge fan of painted timber furniture! There is the odd occasion when I see a painted piece & think WOW! But I see too many where I think OMG why? ANYHOO....... Hmm... I am actually restoring a beautiful antique dressing table, but I have actually considered to PAINT it (Omg,... I know.....) But I am coming to realise now that people who want old furniture in their homes, want to modernise it anyway & are seeking a beautiful & unique piece which cannot be re-created elsewhere, so I thought I would give chalk paint a go. ANNIE SLOAN!!! ANNIE SLOAN!!!! I hear so many people mention!!! AND apparently it is AMAZING to work with :) BUT........ currently a bit out of my price range at almost $70 for 1 LITRE of chalk paint :( Then, someone wonderfully helpful, Shaks from Treasure Bay, mentioned you can make your own chalk paint. After an amazingly wonderful & extremely helpful discussion with her & her fantastic mother, I decided to give it a go. So off to Bunnings I went to buy a bag of Plaster of paris and also some Glitz Beeswax furniture polish (also recommended). All up it cost around $12. I already had a left over sample pot of paint at home. IF you are interested in making home made chalk paint & wish to find out how my at home trial went, then watch this space..........
