Because we live in the northeast, we go every spring, a chancy proposition, as it can be rainy in French Polynesia. It doesnt matter at Kia Ora--there is plenty to do and a staff that goes out of its way to make your stay delightful. The resort is beautifully cared for, the OWBs are amazingly bright and roomy, the spa is wonderful (I recommend their massage!), the food delicious. The general manager, Gerard, is incredibly warm and genuine, as is the entire staff. Every single employee we have encountered has been outgoing, helpful, kind, and generous. And Rangiroa is an experience not to be missed! The snorkeling is the absolute best we have experienced in six years of traveling to French Polynesia. DO NOT miss a trip to the Aquarium! Furthermore, right off our bungalow, the snorkeling is extraordinarily exciting! My husband and I did an introductory dive with Nico, who was incredibly organized, instructive, and especially kind to me (I was pretty terrified.) My husband went back for more diving, and is intending to complete his PADI certification in 2015. We did have some rainy days this year, but we still snorkeled and read, rode bikes to see the dolphins, took a trip to Gauguins Pearl Farm. The staff were delightfully helpful, cheerful, and upbeat, despite some bad turns in the weather. Clearly, after two ten-day stays at Kia Ora, this is a well - run, well - maintained resort that deserves every accolade it receives. We cant wait to get back!
