HOW CAN A LEAKY FAUCET COST SO MUCH? About 4 weeks ago, my hot water faucet in my shower started leaking – I was pretty sure the problem was just a measly little gasket…I wanted it to get fixed right away…I asked my HOA maintenance man to do it, but it turns out he’s not insured and our property management company wouldn’t allow it…I called a professional plumber and made an appointment and found out I needed the water turned off, not only for my condo, not only for my building, BUT FOR THE ENTIRE COMPLEX… Anyway, 4 weeks later, the water got shut off, the plumber showed up on time…Just like I thought, the leak WAS caused by a measly little gasket…The ROTO ROOTER plumber was here about 20 minutes (most of it to get the water drained out), replaced the gaskets in BOTH the hot water and cold water knobs and charged me $216! My gage or sense of value must be off…I was expecting about $35…$50 at the most! I think my brain still lives in an economy with 1960’s pricing?
