HOW DOES YOUR BACKYARD GARDEN GROW? Very likely that is affected by any large trees that you may have in the vicinity of the garden spot. A vegetable garden that is planted less than 10 feet away from the garden is likely not a good idea. This is because tree roots compete for water and nutrients with your garden. This competition is likely the reason that nothing grows on that end of your garden. If you have no choice but to plant that close, added water and fertilizer may help, but you will not get the bumper crop you were expecting. Another little known fact....anything planted closer than a 50 distance from a Walnut tree will likely wilt and die. Anyone know why?
