HOW TO KNOW GOD PERSONALLY - PART 12 * THE CONVICTING WORD OF GOD IN THE HEART (CONTINUATION) Our hearts have been inclined toward sin from the time we were born. It is easy to fall into the routine of forgetting and forsaking God. But we can still choose whether or not to continue in sin - we are convicted by the convicting power in the Word of God. We can yield to a specific temptation, or we can ask God to help us resist temptation when it comes. John 16vs8: And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment. The Cleansing Word Of The Spirit (Psalm 19vs12). 1 John 1vs9: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If God has forgiven us for our sins because of Christs death, why must we confess our sins? In admitting our sins and receiving Christs cleansing, we are: (1) agreeing with God that our sin truly is sin and that we are willing to turn from it, (2) ensuring that we dont conceal our sins from Him and consequently from ourselves, (3) recognizing our tendency to sin and relying on His power to overcome it. The Control Of The Spirit (Psalm 19vs13) There are two things we should always be aware of: * The possibility of secret faults. * The danger of presumptuous sins. The Communion Of The Spirit (Psalm 19vs14) CONCLUSION GOD DECLARES THAT EACH OF US SHOULD COME TO KNOW HIM PERSONALLY. TO KNOW GOD IS TO TRUST HIM; TO TRUST HIM IS TO OBEY HIM; AND TO OBEY HIM IS TO BE BLESSED.
