HOW TO MAKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU I want to start this piece by reminding us that when I use these words Speaker or Audience, I do not necessarily mean a person who is communicating to a group of people who have gathered in one place to listen to him or the people who so gathered. But it can be extended to a one on one interaction between you and your client, the employer and the employee, the husband and the wife, the buyer and the seller etc. I want you to know that life is all about buying and selling, at every point in a mans life, he is either buying or selling. That is why it is very important to understand this concept of selling oneself. Are you ready, then lets roll. The moment you come in contact with a person or group of persons, you will automatically give them. Four choices: (A) They can like you (B) They can dislike you (C) They can be neutral to you and not care one way or the other (D) They can feel sorry for you. But remember, your goal as a communicator is to get them to like you. How then can we get them to like us? Simple, yes, its very simple. You use what I call your keys to likability. And these includes your use of your face, eyes, body and voice. The truth is, were all using them constantly to communicate. But most of us are using them incorrectly. You must know that everything you do sends a signal to your audience. The way you look at them, the way you stand or sit, the inflection in your voice, all make them to reach certain conclusions about you. To make them like you, you have to know the signals you send, how you send them, and how your listener receives them. How then can I use my face to make people like me?
