HUNTINGTON, New York (WABC) -- The Nassau County SPCA is seeking donations and asking for public help in locating suspects responsible for removing the ears and leg of a pit bull puppy. Why should a little puppy go through this? said Dr. Kim Barlowe, of My Pets Vet. Thats just one of the questions you may ask yourself as you look at pit bull puppy Miss Harper. Someone cut off her ears and part of her leg. You think she would have lost all love and trust in people, but she hasnt. Shes a very brave little puppy whos gone through a lot, minimal complaints. I think her biggest complaint is take me out and play with me, Dr. Barlowe said. The Nassau County SPCA received a tip about Harper back in September and they brought her to this vet in Huntington where she has been recovering beautifully. The SPCA says an arrest is imminent. We have just about all the pieces of the puzzle together. We know what transpired. We know a good amount of participants here, said Bob Sowers, of the Nassau County SPCA. Dr. Kim Barlowe says theyre trying to get Harper a prosthetic leg, but if that doesnt work they may have to amputate it. She didnt ask for this. She didnt deserve this. Nothing. She was just brought into this world. This type of cruelty is something no one ever wants to see. Whats sad is we know about her. We dont know about so many others, Dr. Barlowe said. The Nassau County SPCA has received calls from all over the country from people who would like to adopt Miss Harper. They say they would like to choose someone though from Long Island because she will need several more surgeries and continued medical care in Huntington, Long Island.
