Ha! Lessons from travels: When I was in Spain, it was - TopicsExpress

Ha! Lessons from travels: When I was in Spain, it was shocking to me how much religious imagery pervaded that country. There were large crucifixes in basically every town and village I visited. I was so conditioned to think this was a social no-no being from the States that even as a Christian this blatant expression of faith made me cringe a bit. I gradually came to realize that the people in Spain were every bit if not more progressive than the people in the US, but they understood that Christianity was more than just a religious belief, it was a huge part of their history and culture. Just because they did not believe in all the tenants and doctrines, that was no reason to rabidly tear down pieces of their national and cultural heritage. I then came to realize that the US is a very intolerant place, and usually the people who scream about tolerance are more intolerant than anyone.
